The Canberra United co-captain has played in all 10 seasons of the W-League and with the announcement of her retirement she will not feature for Portland Thorns in the upcoming NWSL season.

Sykes, who is now 26, co-captained Canberra this season alongside Michelle Heyman, but unfortunately, the side narrowly missed out on the finals.

Sykes was part of a three premiership and two Championship winning teams along with collecting an accolade of individual awards including the Julie Dolan Medal for Player of the Season in 2015/16 and was the Golden Boot winner last season.

She also has a Goal of the Year, Player of the W-League Grand Final and an NWSL Championship she can also add to her collection.

The talented winger has made 108 appearances and scored 41 goals in her 10 seasons.

Sykes will continue her role within Capital Football as Manager of Game Development and said she is grateful for her time in Green.

"I've had a great time playing for Canberra United, and made a lot of friends while here," she said.

"No matter who was in charge I always felt like I had a home and room to grow and develop as a person and a player.

"I look forward to cheering them on from the stands next season at McKellar Park."
