A very strong Melbourne City side upset Sydney FC 2-1 at home to climb to the top of the ladder and it has Chloe Logarzo thinking they're undeniably the best team.
Logarzo was part of a Sydney midfield that despite strong attacking intent couldn't match City across the 90 minutes, conceding early and late in the narrow loss.
The Matildas midfielder was personally outgunned by the mixture of youth and experience City possess, with national teammate Emily van Egmond slotting in yet another goal to keep pace with the Sky Blues' golden boot contender Remy Siemsen.
It was a performance that has Logarzo admitting they'll face again in finals.
“We played undeniably the best team in the league and that was an amazing performance by them," Logarzo said.
“They put us on trial and I think we definitely need to go back to the drawing board.
“It’s a formation that works well for them, they’ve got some quality players. We only play them once, so we’ll see them in the Semi Finals.”
Melbourne's own Matildas icon, Kyah Simon, was equally proud of her team and their goalscoring ability while she works her way back into full fitness.
“I think we showed parts of our potential collectively,” Simon said.
“I think what’s been letting us down is our final third combination play and I guess that execution, and banging two goals away against a quality Sydney FC side, I can be proud of my team.
“Sydney came out fresh out of the gates and had us really under the cosh in that second half. I think it was a matter of us staying patient, possessing the ball like we know we can and executing.
“We did that to take a little bit of the pressure off us, and we were able to hold on the result till the end."
