The 28-year-old made three substitute appearances, playing a total of 103 minutes.
Reign has seen both their top goalkeepers, Lydia William (ankle) and Michelle Betos (Achilles), sidelined with injuries.
“Given the injuries to Michelle and Lydia we needed to add a quality keeper to our roster,” Reign FC coach Vlatko Andonovski said.
“We think Sammy Jo will be a great fit for our needs – we’re excited to have her on the squad.”
Kellond-Knight joins Matildas teammates Chole Logarzo and Amy Harrison at Spirit.
Spirit coach Richie Burke hopes that the Queenslander will give his side flexibility and balance in midfield.
“Elise is one of those incredibly experienced players with over a century of international caps to her name, a veteran of three World Cups with the Matildas and a player who can play in multiple roles for our club.”
“I can’t wait to integrate her into our squad and hope to get her into the team with immediate effect.
"This is a fantastic acquisition for our club and bringing a player of this caliber to the Spirit for the second part of the season is a major coup.”
Spirit host Houston Dash on Saturday, July 20 (local time).
