The 27-year-old is set have surgery on her ankle after injuring it in her sides win against Canberra United last month.

Simon hurt her Syndesmosis in the opening minutes of the match but went on to score before being substituted in the 60th minute.

When she went in for scans there was more extensive damage to other areas of her ankle.

The Matildas star made the announcement on social media on Sunday afternoon.

"I am no doubt gutted to be back in rehab AGAIN, but am fortunate that I have enough time to be back 100% for France!," she wrote.

The Syndesmosis injury is similar to that what Matildas teammate and Brisbane Roar midfielder Katrina Gorry also has.

It's the second injury interruption for Simon this W-League season, having suffered from an Achilles problem at the start of City's title defence campaign.
