Kyah Simon's cousin Gema Simon has been named as a late call up to the Matildas squad to face Chile, coach Alan Stajcic revealed today.
The Newcastle Jets defender has replaced her club teammate Larissa Crummer for the forthcoming Seven Consulting International Series games in Penrith and Newcastle.
Crummer, who has represented Australia 23 times, will miss the two-match series against Chile due to injury.
Indigenous Australian Simon, 28, was born in Armidale, NSW, and was with the Jets from 2008 until 2014 , including a loan spell with Ottawa Fury in the USL W-League.
She made the move to Melbourne Victory for the 2014/15 season before returning to the Jets in 2015 for another 30 games and spent then 2016 on loan at Suwon in Korea.
Simon signed for Norwegian club Avaldsnes last year but has return to the Jets for this W-League season and is set to break the 100 appearance mark for the Newcastle side this season.
Seven-times capped Simon joined Alen Stajcic’s squad in Sydney yesterday.
