Over two months since a fractured vertebre sidelined her, Brisbane Roar winger Hayley Raso was back kicking a ball this week.
It was a site many fans had been looking forward to seeing since Raso was given her injury diagnoses.
The 24-year-old has been completing rehab in Australia since returning from the United States.
Raso had suffered a non-displaced fracture of the transverse processes of L2, L3 and L4 during an NWSL match for her side Portland Thorns.
The injury occurred in the 59th minute after colliding with Spirit goalkeeper Aubrey Bledsoe while trying to chase down a long ball.
After spending some time in the hospital, she was transferred to the National Rehabilitation Hospital where she stayed until she was well enough to return to Portland.
Speaking to Professional Footballers Australi (PFA) in September, Raso said she was looking forward to making a return.
"I will only miss some games at the start of the season, so it’s exciting to look forward to making my comeback at home in front of my friends and family," she said.
There is no definite return date for Raso.
