The State of Origin is one of the biggest rivalries on the rugby league calendar and for NSW centre Corban McGregor and her teammates 2018 will be extra special.
"Every time coming into a Blues camp I get super excited to be with the girls but there is something special about this year," McGregor said.
"It might be the fact that this time it is the official State of Origin," she said.
This is the first year the women have been put under the Origin banner as it has previously been played as the Interstate Challenge, something the players never understood.
The game tomorrow night will also be the headliner at North Sydney Oval instead of being a doubleheader with the men's, who are playing Saturday.
"The fact that we are sort of the main event is really awesome, I know the girls will get in and it will be one hell of a game," McGregor said.
The 24-year-old, who grew up watching rugby league with her family of fanatics, signed with the Sydney Roosters as a marquee player last week, something she never thought would be possible.
"No, definitely not," McGregor said.
"I never thought in my career that I would pull on an NRL jersey but the fact that I have that opportunity now and still have a couple of years in me is really exciting," she said.
Friday night will not only be a celebration for the players but for their families too.
For McGregor, with the game being played in Sydney, she will have family members at North Syndey Oval cheering her on, particularly, her seven-year-old son Carter.
"I'm very grateful he is always following me around to all my games, my mum and dad are really awesome and my partner too," she said.
"They've rarely missed one of my games," McGregor added.
This is the third year McGregor is donning the Blues jersey having made her debut in 2016, just two years after she took up the game thanks to a suggestion from NSW captain Maddie Studdon.
The Blues, who came into camp on Sunday, have been training well in the lead up to tomorrow night despite having five debutants in the side.
However, McGregor is confident with the way the team has been going as they look to take their third consecutive title.
"Mentally we have given ourselves every opportunity to be victorious again on Friday night," she said.
"I think once again we've got the team to win.
"I know Queensland will have that mindset as well, they are a strong side and they are going to be a really tough opposition but I really believe in our girls and that we can get the job done," McGregor said.
Catch the inaugural Women's State of Origin match on Friday night at 7:30pm on Channel 9.
