South Sydney Rabbitohs halfback Maddison Studdon has been named to captain, with Ruan Sims ruled out with a broken hand which she suffered at the National Championships.

She joins Jillaroos halfback Caitlin Moran, who has been part of the Blues’ previous two Interstate triumphs but was sidelined with a season-ending knee injury.

Vanessa Foliaki will face partner Karina Brown who is likely to captain Queensland as they try to take out the inaugural Women's State of Origin title.

The 19-year-old had a stellar weekend at the Women's National Championships with Country NSW, who won the tournament and joins teammates Sam Bremner, Kenzie Apps, Bec Young, Holli Wheeler, Vanessa Foliaki, Isabelle Kelly, Nakia Davis-Welsh
