Over 500 girls took to the field at North Turramurra Recreation Area last Wednesday and Thursday for the second NSFA Skellern Cup.
This year NSFA saw a total of eighteen schools from across the region with a total of 43 teams from years 3 through 6 taking part.
“This number of teams is a remarkable increase upon the 25 teams that attended the inaugural Skellern Cup last year,” Tournament Organiser and NSFA Community Football Manager Ed Ferguson said.
“All the schools have really got behind the tournament and it’s been great to see plenty of new football players giving their all alongside the experienced ones.”
The competition trophies, one for junior teams (years 3 and 4) and one for senior teams (years 5 and 6), were awarded on a broad list of criteria including positive encouragement of each other and opposition and exhibiting school spirit and good sportsmanship.
The Junior Cup was awarded to Pymble Public School and the Senior Cup was awarded to Ravenswood.
Young Matildas Jada Whyman and Taylor Ray were also in attendance as they helped with the trophy presentation and brought plenty of smiles to the faces of the young players.
