Seventeen of the 20 players that featured in last year’s successful campaign has been selected.

Sayer, who is 16-year-old, already has experience under her belt having played a season with Canberra United and representing Australia the U20's side including their recent runners-up performance at the 2018 AFF Women’s Championship.

“The forthcoming Tournament of Nations kicks off a massive 12 months for women’s football in Australia,” said Matildas coach Alen Stajcic.

“While we will naturally be aiming to defend our Tournament of Nations title, we will also be focussed on continuing to develop as a unit while we are in the USA as we look ahead to the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.

“The 2018 Tournament of Nations offers us an opportunity to show that we can continue to perform at the highest level against three of the top ranked nations in world football,” he said.

The Tournament of Nations is in its second year and will once again feature Brazil, the United States and Japan. In 2017, the Matildas went through the tournament undefeated which included a historic 1-0 win over the World No.1 ranked side, the USA.

Australia has come up against Brazil and Japan since the 2017 edition of the tournament.

The Matildas are set to assemble in Kansas on Monday before travelling to Connecticut and Illinois.

U.S Soccer has announced they plan to host the Tournament of Nations every summer but not in the years a World Cup or Olympic Games is scheduled. The next one will be staged in 2021.

All three of the Matildas matches will be broadcast live on Fox Sports.
