Matildas coach Ante Milicic has named two uncapped players in his 23-player squad for Australia's upcoming international friendly against the USA.
Australia will take on the world No.1's in Colorado next month.
Milicic has given five players, who were not a part of the winning Cup of Nations squad, the opportunity to impress him in the lead up to this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup in France.
Experienced midfielders Katrina Gorry and Chloe Logarzo have returned from injury and will be joined by youngster Mary Fowler while uncapped duo Elizabeth Ralston and Teagan Micah are also in.
Micah was last brought in a Matildas squad at the inaugural 2017 Tournament of Nations after Lydia Williams suffered an injury and then coach Alen Stajcic needed a back-up goalkeeper. While Ralston has been part of the Australian U17 women's set-up previously.
There were a few noticeable absences from the squad including defender Jenna McCormick and forward Princess Ibini while Kyah Simon is still making her way back from an ankle injury.
“It has been my intention from the outset to give as many players as possible a chance to impress ahead of our final squad selection for France,” Milicic said.
“Katrina, Chloe, Mary, Elizabeth, and Teagan will join us in the United States, and while some players have missed out on this window that doesn’t mean that their hopes of being with us at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup are over.
“We will be looking for players to step up in the United States both in training and our match against the world’s number one ranked side, and as a unit we will be aiming to build upon the foundations and standards we set during the recent Cup of Nations,” he said.
It is set to be the 29th meeting between the two nations.
The last time the Matildas faced the USA was during last year’s Tournament of Nations at.
In that match, a clinical first-half strike from Logarzo was cancelled out by Lindsey Horan’s late second-half header as the game ended all square.
Milicic will name Australia’s 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup squad in mid-May before the team commences its final preparations for France in Turkey from May 19.
Australia’s fixture against the United States from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park will be broadcast LIVE in Australia on FOX SPORTS 503.
