Matildas and Orlando Pride stalwart Emily van Egmond has been ruled out of the rest of the NWSL season, returning to Australia for surgery on an ankle injury.
The Matildas star has been reportedly playing through a painful ankle issue for the past few weeks, with Pride finally confirming that surgery was required.
“Emily has the ability to see the game before it’s happened," a disappointed Pride boss, Mark Skinner told Pro Soccer USa.
“She finds space, she creates space. She’ll be a massive miss, but every time we’ve had someone who’s been a miss in our team, it’s a chance for somebody else.”
