MATILDAS RATINGS

Lydia Williams - 7

Looked solid for the most part. She commanded her box when Chile had some corners. Got caught out in the 88th minute when Seaz made a smart run, but there was little Williams could do.

Made a very good save late when Zamora had a chance to pull a goal back. Was brave in the 85th minute as well, diving at the feet of Zamora.

A solid performance as always.

Ellie Carpenter - 8

Was a spark in attack as always. Plenty of speed and neat footwork along with solid passes. Looked dangerous throughout and was the creative player Australia needed.

Delivered a peach of a ball to Kerr in 37th minute which wasn’t put away.

Lost a point due to poor defending from a corner let to Chile’s goal. Didn’t look as solid in defence as Ante Milicic would like but we forget she is only 19 and still has time to learn.

Brilliant run in 78th minute that should have set up Gielnik or Logarzo.

Clare Polkinghorne - 6

Solid performance without doing anything spectacular.

Jenna McCormick - 8.5

A dream debut for the multi football-code star. Looked very assured in defence, repeatedly cleaning up as well as playing some solid balls out of the back.

Another string to her bow was how she looked dangerous in attack. Delivered some dangerous balls. Overall a fantastic debut and deserved the standing ovation she got in the 85th minute when she came off.

Steph Catley - 6.5

A solid performance from Catley. She did what her team needed. Her passes could have been a bit better but overall played well.

Emily Van Egmond - 7

Looked dangerous throughout, intercepting balls and delivering crosses into the box.

A nice free kick in the 3rd minute to set up Kerr’s opening goal.

Some of her balls weren’t as well-timed as they could have been but she wasn’t the only Matilda to do that.

Aivi Luik - 6

Wasn’t as threatening as she could have been. Did deliver a nice ball in the second half that gave Kerr a chance, but otherwise wasn’t as dangerous as she can be.
