The list, which has been slowly released since December 4, saw Alanna Kennedy (99), Emily van Egmond (98), Elise Kellond-Knight (76), Lydia Williams (59) and Sam Kerr (2) make the list. 

A panel of experts including Arsenal manager Joe Montemurro, Melbourne Victory coach Jeff Hopkins and Guam national team head coach Belinda Wilson were amongst the 72 judges from around the world to rate the players on their 2018 performance.

Danish international and Wolfsburg forward Pernille Harder topped the list with newly crowned Ballon d'Or winner Ada Hegerberg coming in at third. 

Thirty of the 72 judges voted Harder as number one, beating Kerr by almost 201 points. 

Harder led the goalscoring charts in the Bundesliga by the end of Wolfsburg’s title-winning 2017-18 season and so far this season has scored six goals and another half-dozen in the Champions League. 

Kerr also had a 2018 to remember scoring 16 goals and topping the NWSL scoring ladder for the second consecutive year with the Chicago Red Stars.

She was also influential in helping the Matildas to the Final of the Asian Cup in April.
