After consulting with the City of Newcastle, the club confirmed on Thursday night they would be moving their upcoming W-League match against Canberra United on Saturday, November 17 to McDonald Jones Stadium.

The club had already moved their opening National Youth League game on November 11 but were hoping that the groud would be okay for the W-League match six days later.

"Representatives from the City of Newcastle and Jets officials inspected the ground earlier this week, and made this decision in the interest of player safety," the Jets wrote in a statement.

"The transfer of these matches has been made to ensure optimal conditions for play, allowing the Club time to make new arrangements at alternate venues."

The Newcastle Herald reported last week that the home ground of the Jets W-League side, which is also shared with Newcastle and Hunter Rugby Union, had "extensive bare and sandy sections".

A combination of wear and tear and poor grass-growing conditions have hampered efforts to renovate this area.

The ground received significant use during the winter season and the Jets have been unable to use it as a training ground, instead, the side has been training at Broadmeadow's Magic Park.
