Matildas midfielder Katrina Gorry is set to miss the remainder of the W-League season through injury.
The Brisbane Roar player took to Instagram this morning to make the announcement.
"I thought I would be leaving this boot in 2018 but unfortunately I have ruptured my Syndesmosis & will be unable to put the orange jersey on for the rest of the season," Gorry wrote.
The syndesmosis is a fibrous joint where the tibia and fibula are connected together by ligaments or connective tissue.
The 26-year-old had missed the Roar's match against Canberra United on December 27 with her last match being against Melbourne Victory.
Despite the injury, which usually takes four to six weeks to be treated, Gorry still has hopes to be part of the Matildas World Cup squad for France this June.
"A tough couple of months ahead but the reward at the end is bigger than ever," Gorry wrote.
Roar have the bye in the upcoming round of the W-League before traveling to AAMI Park on January 19 to face Melbourne City.
