Prior to last night’s departure to Portugal, Gielnik was replaced by Western Sydney Wanderers forward Rachel Lowe.

Gielnik is the third Matilda to be injured in two weeks after Caitlin Foord and Kyah Simon where both ruled out with injuries suffered during the W-League finals series.

Lowe is the second debutant to join the Matildas for the 2018 Algarve Cup.

The 17-year-old was a member of the 2017 AFC U-19 Women's Championship with the Young Matildas where she played as a midfielder.

Lowe joined the Wanderers ahead of the 2016/17 season after spending most of her career in Football NSW Institute’s development pathway.

She plays a centre forward role in the NSW NPL Women's competition for Football NSW Insititute where she scored eight goals in 16 games last season.

It is hoped that Gielnik will return to full fitness ahead of the 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan.

Following the 2018 Algarve Cup the Matildas will return to Australia where they will continue their preparations for the important 2018 AFC Women’s Asian Cup.
