GIANTS Netball coach Julie Fitzgerald is wary on the Adelaide Thunderbirds ahead of their round two Suncorp Super Netball match tomorrow afternoon.
The GIANTS got their season off to a good start with a win in the Grand Final re-match against Sunshine Coast Lightning last weekend but the Thunderbirds went down to West Coast Fever.
Despite the Thunderbirds not securing a bonus point in their match against Fever, Fitzgerald knows it is still early on in the season for teams.
"I have a lot of respect for that side, there are some really good players in that team and they are going to get better every week as their combinations develop so I'm quite wary of the Thunderbirds," Fitzgerald told GiantsTV
"I think every individual player in that team has a lot of talent and as their combinations develop I think they will be quite a threat," she said.
While the talk surrounding the Thunderbirds and Fever match was about Jhaniele Fowler scoring a record 66 goals, the Thunderbirds managed to score 54 goals which Fitzgerald said would have been enough to win in most games.
"In most games, 54 goal is enough to win it so I'm aware that they scored well as well," she said.
Heading into the game against the Thunderbirds, it will be all about building on their performance from the game against Lightning.
"I think we just want to be a bit better than we were last week obviously there are things we want to tweak but I want to keep building on what we produced last week," Fitzgerald said.
The Thunderbirds and GIANTS netball will be live on Channel 9 from 3pm AEST.
