The side, who are still looking for their first Super Netball win over the season, will have to try to do it without their Jamaican shooter after she was ruled out with a bone stress injury to her tibia.

Aiken landed awkwardly in last weekend’s game against the Giants.

The Firebirds medical team will monitor her response to treatment and assess her again next week.

With the Netball World Cup in July, Romelda is keen to be available.

In addition to Romelda, Kim Jenner remains unavailable and will be replaced this week by Bridey Condren while Amy Sommerville will again replace Tippah Dwan.

The Firebirds will travel to South Australia to face the Adelaide Thunderbirds, who sit just above them on the table with a win under their belts.

In good news, West Coast Fever captain Courtney Bruce will return this weekend, after overcoming an elbow injury.

The Australian Diamond has missed the last three games for the West Australian team after hurting her elbow in the opening quarter of Fever’s round one match.

“The way she has attacked her rehab has been exemplary, and with a World Cup fast approaching, our medical team has taken every precaution with Courtney, with her health and wellbeing remaining our number one priority over the past three weeks,” coach Stacey Marinkovich said.

Fever fly to Melbourne before travelling to Bendigo to face the Magpies on Saturday afternoon.
