The 15 year old prodigy made her debut for the Australian senior team at this year's Tournament of Nations and had been included in coach Alen Stajcic's squad for the games in Penrith and Newcastle.

But her Irish-born dad Kevin stepped in and withdrew her from the squad before it was released this morning.

Australia and Ireland have been in a tug of war over Cairns-born Fowler and her brother Quivi, 19, and sister Ciara, 17, who have chosen Eire's emerald green, while Mary has stuck with green and gold...for now.

Earlier this year, the teen admitted she desperately wanted to play for the same nation as her siblings - but there's been no sign yet of an Australian call up for the rest of her family yet.

She told AAP: “I want to play for Australia, but obviously Ciara and Quivi have played for Ireland

“And we all want to play together for the same country. Family is really important to me, it’s important to all of us. I’m not in any rush to make that decision right now, I’m only 15, so we’ll see.”

Until the family, originally from Cairns, make senior appearances in competitive games, they can keep their options open on which country they settle on.

Fowler's family moved to the Netherlands three years ago for Quivi's career when he signed for Vitesse and he has since moved to Dordrecht. Ciara played for Bankstown City in May.

Mary is currently in England working with a specialist sprint coach – who also worked with Cristiano Ronaldo – but Stajic confessed today that he was disheartened by the latest decision.

"Her father has made her unavailable for this game which is a little bit disappointing I have to say," said Stajcic as he unveiled his 20-strong squad for the Chile games.

"They've lived an alternative lifestyle, if you would like to call it that, over the past few years.

"The father has a whole family he's trying to look after and protect, and really trying to foster their growth on and off the field.

"She's certainly come a long way on and off the field as a person and we have to give them that space to do whatever they're going to do."

He added: "She is 15 years old but for me, it's a little bit disappointing that she's not coming back.

"But you know they're all on she's under father's wing at the moment and I wish her and her family all the best."
