Crummer was replaced by teammate Gema Simon in the Matildas squad yesterday with injury ruling her out of the two-game series against Chile.

Jets coach Craig Deans revealed that the 22-year-old had been suffering from a quad strain picked up during the Matildas recent matches against England and France.

"We knew she had a small quad strain when came back from the Matildas tour to Europe and we spent a couple of weeks rehabbing her and getting back to full training," Deans said.

"With soft tissue injuries, there is always the risk of them flaring up again, which is what happened.

"If we have to give her another week off then I will do it," he said.

Crummer was limping towards the end of the Jets 2-1 loss to Melbourne Victory last Thursday night and Deans will likely not risk her involvement in their next match.

"I think it would be a bit risky to play her next game," Deans said.

Newcastle Jets are set to face Canberra United on Saturday November 17 at No.2 Sportsground.
