Foord, who signed with Thorns in the offseason, was injured while playing with Sydney FC in the W-League semi-final against Newcastle Jets.

She ruptured the lisfranc ligament in her foot and required surgery but after five months of rehab, she travelled to the US to begin training with the side at the end of June.

"She's doing really well and keeps progressing," Thorns coach Mark Parsons told The Oregonian.

"If she does play, it will be very, very low minutes. If she's not ready, then no problem.

"We'll remain patient and know the good work that she's putting in is getting her closer," he said.

Foord was this week selected in Matildas coach Alen Stajcic 20-player squad for the Tournament of Nations next weekend.

The Portland Thorns travel to face last-place Sky Blue FC.

Parsons also said he wouldn't know whether or not Foord would get on the pitch "until the day of the game".
