Canberra United defender Natasha Prior is set to miss the rest of the W-League season with a severe concussion.
Prior was stretchered from the field after a clash during her side's win over Sydney FC earlier this month.
She had been on the field for two minutes when she was knocked out after accidently catching the elbow of Sydney forward Savannah McCaskill.
While scans after the incident showed no further damage, recent assessments confirmed the 20-year-old would need to miss the remainder of the season as she makes a full recovery.
“It is always a shame to lose a talented player to injury,” coach Heather Garriock said.
“But it is important that Tash takes the time out to make a full recovery and comes back to the pitch even stronger.”
“The club will support Tash through this time, she is still a part of the training environment with us, and we all can’t wait to see her back playing Football.”
She only made the move to the capital this season from the Newcastle Jets.
