Melbourne City have recorded their first win of the campaign after coming from behind to beat Canberra United 2-1 courtesy of Emily van Egmond's stoppage-time penalty.
MELBOURNE CITY
Lydia Williams - 7
Rarely troubled and could do nothing about Canberra's goal as Stengel tapped home the rebound into an empty net.
Ellie Carpenter - 7
Returning to her former stomping ground, she copped plenty of stick from the locals and had a fairly average performance by her impressive standards. It was her hunger and desire in stoppage time that put Canberra's under pressure which ultimately won City the game.
Lauren Barnes - 7
Produced one goal-saving block to deny Charley, and got through her work with minimal fuss as always.
Emma Checker - 7
Saw off the challenge of Stengel for the majority of the game and kept the backline marshalled well.
Rebekah Stott - 7
The Kiwi international is back for another season and showed her experience in keeping Canberra at bay for most of the game. She injected herself into midfield at every opportunity however her final ball was sometimes wasteful.
Steph Catley - 7
Started the game in a left wing-back position before being moved further forward after the withdrawal of Mijatovic. Didn't really impact the game too much in either position as her service was not at its usual quality.
