Leena Khamis joins Canberra after successful spells at Sydney FC and Western Sydney Wanderers.

The 25-cap Matilda brings a wealth of experience into the Canberra side, lining up alongside Elise Thorsnes in the most seasoned strike force in the competition.

โ€œThis will be my 12th season in the Westfield W-League, and Iโ€™m looking forward to the opportunity to play with a new team in a new environment,โ€ Khamis said.

The veteran striker will also reunite with sister and current Canberra United goalkeeper Sham Khamis, after the pair spent several seasons together at Sydney FC.

โ€œI love playing alongside Sham, it will be a special moment for our family seeing us reunite again,โ€ Khamis said.

โ€œWeโ€™ve played with each other for many years and we really push each other in training. She definitely tries extra hard when I attempt to score against her and I definitely make it known when she lets one in.โ€

โ€œI cannot speak highly enough of Leena as a player and a person,โ€ Heather Garriock said.

โ€œShe will bring a great amount of experience, drive and accountability to the squad and Iโ€™m so pleased she will be in green this season alongside sister Sham.โ€
