Adidas has announced that their athletes on the winning team at the upcoming 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup will receive the same bonus payout as their male peers.
In a statement on Twitter adidas Executive Board Member and Head of Global Brands, Eric Liedtke said: "We believe in inspiring and enabling the next generation of female athletes, creators and leaders through breaking barriers."

It is unclear how much the performance bonuses are worth with no information being disclosed on what the likes of 2018 World Cup winner, Paul Pogba received.
The sportswear manufacturer has been taking steps to lessen the pay discrepancy in all industries.
Adidas launched the first of three Equal Pay Day campaigns with Lean In in April 2018 to help raise awareness of the gender wage gap.
