An injury time penalty by Morgan Andrews has denied Adelaide United their first win of the season after a 2-2 draw with Perth Glory in their Round Eight clash on Friday night at Marden Sports Complex.
With both sides looking to register their first win of the season, Perth came out of the blocks firing and did everything but score in the opening stages as they were denied the opener by the crossbar twice, and then Sarah Willacy in the Adelaide goal.
Having withstood considerable pressure in the opening half an hour, it was the home side who took the lead against the run of play with their first shot on target when Chelsie Dawber punished the Perth defence in the 38th minute, before Adelaide then doubled their lead with just their second shot on target, when Mary Fowler found the bottom corner to give the Reds a surprise 2-0 lead at halftime.
Perth were arguably the better side in the opening stanza and reduced the deficit just seven minutes into the second half when Crystal Thomas produced an excellent run and finish, but just when it looked like Adelaide had done enough to earn their first win of the season, Morgan Andrews was given an opportunity to salvage a point for the visitors, and the American made no mistake from the spot in the 93rd minute to leave both sides still searching for their first win this season.

Limited opportunities to get forward, but got through her work without being seriously tested.
Julia Ashley - 7
Turned inside and out by Thomas for Perth's 1st goal, but otherwise another solid display from the American.
Amber Brooks - 7.5
No player had more touches than the Adelaide skipper, and she contributed in both defence and attack as her she often dictates possession from the back. Was a pillar of strength tonight.
Laura Johns - 7
Had the tough task of trying to keep Celia and Andrews quiet, but did well.
Kahlia Hogg - 7
Was pressured into some early mistakes but her steadied into the game.
Chelsie Dawber - 8
The youngster provided a much needed spark in the first half and produced an excellent finish to open the scoring, before finding Fowler in space on the edge of the box for Adelaide's second.

Mallory Weber - 8
Adelaide's biggest threat continued her recent form and almost got on the scoresheet when she forced Campbell into a smart diving save in the second half.
Charlotte Grant - 6.5
With Adelaide's attacks focussing down their left, Grant had a quiet game but almost provided a perfect assist for Fowler, only to be denied by some desperate Perth defending.
Mary Fowler - 7
The youngster continues to impress and produced an excellent finish from the edge of the box to double her side's lead, but her decision making at times really lets her down.

Shannon May - 7
The workhorse had a quiet game by her standard as neither side really dominated the middle of the park.
Morgan Andrews - 7.5
A real mixed bag for the American. It was her horrible pass that allowed Adelaide to open the scoring, but she also showed her class by providing the assist for Perth's opener, before coolly converting the penalty to earn her side a point.
Celia - 6.5
Had an early chance to score but otherwise she was below her usual dangerous self as play often went down the opposite flank.
Leticia McKenna - 6.5

Crystal Thomas - 7.5
The speedy striker was busy throughout and showed her class with a fantastic run and finish to draw Perth back into the game.
