Fowler is a four-cap Matilda and a household name among Matildas fans, who have anxiously overseen her brief career as one of Australia's brightest young talents.

The 16-year-old signs alongside 18-year-old Ciara from Bankstown City. She has already racked up 17 goals in just 10 appearances for the Junior Matildas and will compete alongside Ciara in the AFC U/19 Championships next month.

Fowler's Adelaide move is also a big-step for the teenager, who reportedly almost rejected the chance to represent Australia over controversial comments made by former Matildas boss, Alen Stajcic.

Now she's set to become one of the W-League's biggest stars over the next few seasons.

“Both Mary and Ciara have experience with the national set-ups and this will certainly help us as we head into the new season," Adelaide coach Ivan Karlovic said.

“Their quality will help to lift our standard and I’m sure they’ll be a perfect fit to our dressing room chemistry.

“It will be a new experience for Mary and Ciara playing in a different state, but I’m confident this adventure will help them continue to develop both on and off the park."
