On a Tuesday night in Australia we received a piece of correspondence that would change our world.  Too dramatic? Okay maybe a little bit but as the Twittersphere caught the news many Australian fans had the same reaction we did; shock, disbelief and maybe one or two tears (or three or four).  Basically we went through all the stages of grief in a six hour period.

The fitting farewell outgoing Westfield Matildas coach Tom Sermanni deserved and wanted didn’t eventuate this evening, as Australia fell short of EAFF Women’s East Asian Cup qualification by virtue of a 2-1 loss to China PR.

The hunt is over the US Women's National Team with Tom Sermanni announced as they new coach but it all begins now for Australia as they look to replace the charismatic Scotsman.  So what now?

TWG has been informed that Matildas coach Tom Sermanni is set to be announced as the new coach of the recent gold medal winning US Women's National Team. 

The Westfield Matildas have marked the farewell appearance of Sarah Walsh with a spirited 6-2 loss to women’s football heavyweights the United States at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park .

The Westfield Matildas showed great character and tremendous promise in a classic encounter against Olympic Games gold medalists the United States today, ultimately going down 2-1.
