Matildas rise to all time high in FIFA rankings

Victories over Brazil and China has seen the Matildas rise to their highest world ranking of 4th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

The Matildas jumped two spots from September’s rankings following two dominant home series against Brazil in September and China in November.

It also means that Australia remain the number 1 ranked team in the Asian Football Confederation ahead of Japan, DPR Korea and China.

The United States remained on top of the world rankings for a third straight year with Germany – despite dropping a number of points – keeping their position (2nd), as did England (3rd).

2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup hosts France were the casualties this round falling two places to number 6.

Australia commences their 2018 in Portugal taking on South Korea, Norway and Portugal in the Algarve Cup.
