Melbourne City and Adelaide United are the latest clubs to confirm new coaches for the 2017/18 W-League season.
Two time defending W-League champions Melbourne City last week confirmed that former City defender Patrick Kisnorbo will take over head coach duties in Season 10.
“I’m delighted to be able to work with the Women’s team next season and continue to build a sustainable and successful team for the future,” Kisnorbo said.
“Coaching at Melbourne City has become a real passion for me and Melbourne City and City Football Group have provided me with some fantastic coaching and development opportunities over the past 18 months.”
“I’ve developed across the Men’s, youth teams and now the Women’s team and have been truly grateful for these opportunities, equipping me well for this assignment.”
The 36 year old is not new to the W-League side having undertaken the Assistant Coach position in early January 2017 alongside acting player / head coach Jessica Fishlock.
With Fishlock pulling double duty, logistically Kisnorbo appeared to assume match day control and the partnership helped steer City through a difficult mid-part of the season before claiming historic back-to-back championships.
Kisnorbo will also continue his duties as the Club’s National Premier Leagues (NPL) development coach.
Over in Adelaide, early this week another former player is taking up the coaching mantle with former Reds defender Ivan Karlovi? taking over from Huss Skenderovic as the head coach of the W-League side.
“It’s a great opportunity and obviously I’m very thankful for the Club for trusting me with this important role,” said Karlovi?.
"We'll have many goals throughout the season, but of course it's about looking to make the finals for the first time in the history of the Club."
Like Kisnorbo, Karlovi? is no stranger to the W-League players having acted as assistants to both Mark Jones and Skenderovic with Adelaide's women's program.
Having spent a number of seasons with the W-League side, Karlovi? is hoping to hit the ground running and push for a first ever finals berth.
“Hopefully we can continue on from the solid season last year and keep on improving,” he said.
“I like to play an attacking, organised brand of football that hopefully excites the spectators.”
“But more importantly a style of football that gets results and brings us some more success to the side.”
The 10th season of the W-League is to commence in late 2017.
