Adelaide United have announced the signing of Western New York Flash defender for the upcoming season.

Dahlkemper joins the Reds after a debut season with the Flash in which she played in all 20 NWSL matches.

“I am really excited to get the opportunity to play with Adelaide United for this upcoming 2015-16 season,” said Dahlkemper.

“I can't wait to help the team be successful in any way I can. I have heard nothing but positive things about the Australian league and I can't wait to continue my growth as a player in the league and with Adelaide United.”

With the signing of Dahlkemper, Adelaide have now picked up two of the top three players from this year's NWSL draft following the announcement of the loan of Sky Blue's Sarah Killion - and Dahlkemper's college teammate - last week.

Having played at centreback, right back and also as a holding midfielder, Dahlkemper's versatility provides Harnwell with many options to incorporate her into the set up.

"As a club, we are excited that Abby will be a Lady Red this offseason," said Flash general manager Rich Randall.

"She is a young player with a lot of potential and opportunities like this will help her continue to grow at a high level. We wish her the best there and look forward to her return to Western New York in the spring."

Abby Dahlkemper will join the Reds in pre-season ahead of their season opener against the Western Sydney Wanderers on 17 October 2015.
