In his first W-League season, Western Sydney Wanderers coach Norm Boardman has turned to youth to build the 2014 W-League squad.

Heading into their third season, the Wanderers have been hit by a series of high profile departures with the newly appointed Boardman choosing to build the bulk of the team from promising newcomers in and around the Western Sydney area.

U17 Matildas and Football NSW Institute products Rhianna Pollicina, Victoria Guzman, Chloe O'Brien and Tia Gavin all get their chance on the national stage as does former U17 Matildas Grace Henry and young player Demi Koulizakis.

Veteran Michelle Carney, defender Caitlin Cooper and midfielder Linda O'Neill lead the list of returnees while goalkeeping duo Trudy Burke and former Sydney FC championship goalkeeper Sham Khamis are the notable inclusions.

The experience of the returning and incoming players will be crucial for the Wanderers considering the significant turnover of players and the departure of Kyah Simon, Teigen Allen and Servet Uzunlar and retirement of Catherine Cannuli.

Boardman still has three international spots available to fill and their identities will be a key part of the new look Wanderers.

Western Sydney kicks off their season against Canberra United on 14 September 2014.
