W-League championship winners and Matildas Kyah Simon and Servet Uzunlar are poised to return to Sydney FC for the 2014 W-League season.
If completed, the acquisition of the Simon and Uzunlar will boost a Sky Blues side who earlier this month lost key players Sam Kerr and Caitlin Foord to the Perth Glory and striker Leena Khamis to an ACL injury.
Sydney's gain is a blow for cross town rivals Western Sydney Wanderers with Uzunlar having played with the Red and Black for the last two seasons and Simon having signed last season before an ACL injury ruled her out.
Sources say the predominant reason for the move for both players is a re-connection with Sydney FC coach Alen Stajcic.
Like many of the Sky Blues squad, Simon and Uzunlar have been beneficiaries of the tutelage of Stajcic; from the NSW Institute of Sport identification and training, to W-League championships to the World Cup.
With Simon on the comeback trail and Uzunlar struggling with fitness and form in the past couple of years, it's believed Stajcic, and the environment at Sydney FC, best suits them to return to the national team.
Simon's addition would enhance a forward line that has lost the goals of Kerr, Foord, Khamis and the anticipated loss of Jodie Taylor while Uzunlar has the experience to easily slide in a centre back or as a holding midfielder.
Sydney FC yesterday announced that midfielder Teresa Polias will captain the side with a full squad announcement expected later in the week.
